Maleficent Film Review - SPOILER ALERT

Friday 30 May 2014

When I first found out two years ago that Disney were doing a new take on the old classic of Sleeping Beauty I could not wait for this film to come out! The idea of taking Sleeping Beauty and looking at the story from Maleficents point of view just excited me so much.

Maleficent (too me) was always one of the scariest Disney villains and Angelina Jolie played her fantastically. I could not have picked anyone better to play her. I have to say though after waiting so long for the film to come out I was a little disappointed.. The story takes a look at how Maleficent had reasons all along behind why she had become evil, and ended up showing how much she truly loved Aurora and it turns out that the true loves kiss that was needed to awake Aurora was not from Prince Philip, but from Maleficent herself. I feel that if the story had stuck to the original Sleeping Beauty story then the opportunity was there in order to make this film really dark and make Maleficent even creepier rather than it turning out that she had been good all along. What also really annoyed me (even though I am Scottish) was King Stephan's Scottish accent.. It just seemed so out of place in the film... Maybe just me being fussy here? Does anyone agree?

All in all, I am glad that I did go to see it after waiting so long and it is worth a watch although it was a little disappointing but maybe that's just because it was not what I expected it to be. Generally for younger kids though the film is really good and I think everyone should take a minute to appreciate how amazing Angelina Jolie is in it - w0w major woman crush going on here!

I love ALL things Disney so comment below and let me know what you thought of the movie if you have been to see it :)

CLINIQUE Moisture Surge Review

I can't even begin to say how long I have been looking for a moisturiser or a primer that truly works for dry skin. I have the worst dry skin and everything that I have tried so far just results in make-up clinging to my dry patches making my skin look even worse than before. That was until I discovered the Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser.

This moisturiser can be used under or on top of make-up and claims to give the user 'rapid, long-lasting hydration in a refreshing oil-free gel'. I now swear by this. The formula is a very lightweight fragrance free gel and when applied literally makes your skin feel silky smooth. I have never discovered a product like this before. Also, a little of this product really goes a long way. I have been using it for around a month now and I literally have only used the excess product that was on the inner part of the lid. As it is quite expensive I only bought the 75ml but I know that this will last for a while.

If you have dry skin, like me, I would highly recommend this. It also acts as a good base before applying your make-up, allowing it to be applied easily with no make-up clinging to those nasty dry patches.

If any of you have discovered products that really work on dry skin then please comment below and let me know because I would love to know, I'm always on the look out!

Clinique Moisture Surge 50ml (can't see 75ml any more) available at House of Fraser and currently on discount at £28 -  Link

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover Review

Wednesday 28 May 2014

First review post! I thought I'd start with something simple for my first review, so I'm going to discuss a product I have been loving recently.

The Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover is one of the best eye make-up remover products I have came across in a while!

Like most girlies, I cannot go a day without wearing mascara, without it my eyes look so small and tired and I end up just looking ill. Particularly throughout my last year of Uni where I have been consistently tired and stressed I found myself constantly rubbing my eyes. This meant that any eye product I was wearing would end up in there causing my eyes to become extremely dry and irritated. This caused me to rush out and buy something that I could use quickly at the end of the day in order to remove all of my eye make-up and leave my eyes feeling clear and fresh. After nipping down to my local Superdrug I came across this little gem, and it only cost £3.49!

As you can see I have used quite a bit of the product already. Before doing a review on this I wanted to make sure I had given it a good try instead of doing a first impression review. From the picture you can see that the product consists of two formula. One oil based and one water based, and surprisingly it does not leave your eyes feeling greasy at all.

To use you simply shake the bottle to mix the formula, put a few drops of the product onto a cotton pad and then hold against your eye, and tah dah.. goodbye eye make-up! The product also removes even waterproof mascara, is soft and gentle on your eyes, and there is no rubbing required! Even though the bottle is small a little of the product really goes a long way and for £3.49 you can't say no.

All Work & No Play..

Friday 23 May 2014

Again, I have been missing in action? What kind of new blogger am I...

It has officially been one whole month since I posted my last blog post. Over the last month I have been so busy between working my job and trying to finish my degree. I finish on Tuesday - it cannot come quick enough!!! University work and working at home to make pennies for the new flat has literally run me into the ground, and I can't wait for next Wednesday to pamper myself and start clearing out my room for the big move.

Socially I have been non existent, so their is nothing to report there but I have been going through some tough personal times that I know will all change once University is over (5 more days!!)

This blog will be much more active as of next Tuesday, so please keep faithful to me as I am excited to begin blogging properly!

Also, on Wednesday the 21st of May 2014, I officially submitted my fourth year dissertation (on some engineering stuff that you guys won't care about). So here is the generic dissertation selfie that is all the rage at this time of year! The feeling of handing it in is amazing, feel like I've come such a long way over the last four years and they have just flew by...
